Maintaining the Cleanliness of your Drapes

drapes and blinds cleaning by SERVPRO of Fontana

The cleaning of your drapes and blinds is very important for many reasons. While frequently overlooked,  it is recommended that you deep clean your drapes and blinds at least every two years. Often, soiling may not be visible for two to six years, leaving toxins and allergens inside your home or business while causing the fabric to deteriorate.

With each day that passes, your drapes and blinds are collecting a variety of airborne contaminants, such as dust, smoke, and other germs that are then accumulating and thriving in the sunlight. Without proper treatment, your drapes and blinds will likely show signs of deterioration far sooner than the lifespan they are capable of.

These airborne contaminants that sulk into your drapes hold on tight to several different types of allergens and bacteria that can influence the health of those who live or work on your property. The bacteria builds up and recycles through your air vents and throughout your home. Additionally, the fabric will likely have run-ins with bugs and trapped moisture, allowing for mold to form and expand.

Mold growth, diseases from bugs, dust, dander, and other contaminants can have mild to severe effects on your health. Taking action to clean your drapes every two years or less limits the spread and advancement of such harmful contaminants.

Are your drapes exposed to smoke or pet dander? What type of climate do you live in? Each of these can have lasting effects on your drapes. Mold growth, diseases from bugs, dust, dander, and other contaminants can have mild to severe effects on your health. Taking action to clean your drapes every two years or less limits the spread and advancement of such harmful contaminants.

Additionally, bad odors can form as a result or bacteria growth or the spreading of dust, mold, and other contaminants. Odors can easily be trapped within the fabrics that are used in drapery, creating an unfortunate environment inside of your home or business.

If you are interested in extending the life of your drapes and blinds, call SERVPRO of Fontana today. We excel at cleaning fine fabrics and intricate pieces by using wet or dry methods - whatever is required of the type of fabric. We use state-of-the-art equipment designed specifically for cleaning fine fabrics.

SERVPRO of Fontana offers a deep cleaning to help businesses safely reopen

As businesses in Southern California slowly begin to re-open, many are still hesitant due to the risks of working at or visiting non-essential businesses.

How to Keep Restaurant Floors Clean

How to Keep Restaurant Floors Clean

Controlling kitchen grease, especially on the floors, is critical for maintaining a safe work space and protecting your bottom line. Slips and falls can be seriously hazardous to employee health, and cost you heavily in litigation as well. That’s not even to mention the potential for significant inventory loss if food is being frequently dropped.

As most of the grime on restaurant kitchen floors is organic material, long-term build-up can pose a bio hazard risk for your cooks, dishwashers, and waitstaff. Frequent cleaning keeps this under control, and will also prevent grease (and other contaminants) from being tracked into the dining area, where customers could be impacted.

How to Clean a Restaurant Kitchen Floor in 7 Easy Steps

  1. Sweep the area clear of debris.
  2. Dilute your commercial kitchen cleaner according to the label’s instructions.
  3. Mop the floor with the diluted cleaning solution.
  4. Scrub the area with a stiff-bristled brush, to loosen up grease and dirt.
  5. Let the solution sit for 5-10 minutes. Make sure “wet floor” signs are clearly visible, and minimize foot traffic in the area as much as possible.
  6. Rinse the floor with hot water. Use a hose if floor drains are present, otherwise a mop and a clean water bucket will work.
  7. Remove any excess water and grease/dirt. If your kitchen has floor drains, you can squeegee the remaining liquid towards them. If not, a wet vacuum will get the job done.

Commercial Restaurant Cleaning Services

Running a busy restaurant is hard work, and you don’t always have time to attend to every little spill or drip right away. When grime, moisture, and odor accumulation becomes a real challenge, turn to SERVPRO of Fontana for professional janitorial services.

Over-the-counter products are often too mild to cut through built-up layers of grease. And for effective results—in an environment where results really matter—it’s important to choose cleaning products that will specifically work for your kitchen. If your floors are made of a porous tile, for instance, cheap soaps and detergents can become trapped in the tiny holes, leaving your work space even more slippery. Commercial-grade restaurant de-greasers, selected and applied by trained professionals, are the key to success.

SERVPRO of Fontana offers commercial cleaning services for restaurants near San Bernardino. From kitchen hood de-greasing, to deep-cleaning carpets, to removing bio hazard contaminants, our technicians have the experience and knowledge to handle it all. Call (909) 357-4337 today and let us know.

Areas Commonly Missed When Disinfecting

7/25/2020 (Permalink)

Disinfecting businesses, homes, and other locations has become a key part of slowing the spread of the coronavirus. For many, however, this heightened level of cleanliness is new, and they’re not sure how to properly disinfect all areas of a store, office, or even home. There are a lot of areas that people are likely to miss if they haven’t been trained in proper disinfecting protocol. Here are a few of these areas that you may not think about disinfecting, but you should.

Light Switches

While customers in a store may not necessarily turn on lights anywhere, that doesn’t mean the switches can’t be covered with germs. Someone could sneeze nearby, plus someone has to turn the lights on and off. In the home, your family members are always turning lights on and off, so they become high contact points. Wipe the switches down regularly, even if you live alone.

Toilets

One area many people were already disinfecting was the bathroom, but during a pandemic, you need to pay extra close attention to parts of the toilet people often touch. For example, you need to be sure to wipe down the toilet seat, cover, and handle. Also, don’t forget to disinfect the sink handles, soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and door handles. If your store has a water fountain outside the bathroom, the button should be cleaned often.

Doorknobs

Most people are highly aware of how many others touch the main doors in and out of a business, office, or home. Those knobs are disinfected regularly, but don’t forget about all the other doors in your office or home. All of those doorknobs need to be cleaned, too. Also, don’t forget the knobs and pulls of your kitchen and office break room. Doors to changing rooms should also be disinfected.

Similarly, businesses that have buttons that automatically open doors (such as for handicap access) need to be cleaned just as often as doorknobs do. Rotating doors need to have the handles disinfected, too.

Elevator Buttons

All of the elevator controls, both inside the car and the outside call buttons, should be wiped down regularly.

 We Can Help

It’s okay if you’re feeling overwhelmed with all of the disinfecting you need to do. That’s why SERVPRO of Fontana is here. We provide in-depth cleaning services to residents and commercial spaces. Our team is trained in CDC cleaning protocols and will hit all of these commonly missed areas and more. Any high-touch surfaces will be professionally disinfected. Contact us today to learn more.

SERVPRO of Fontana: Biohazard Cleaning Services

5/9/2018 (Permalink)

When a home has been flooded due to a sewer backup, has had hazardous chemicals spilled within, or has been the site of a hoarding situation, it’s often not be safe to live in. The chemical residue can linger for months, if not years. These chemical fumes, bacteria, and other biological wastes can lead to a number of issues, including breathing difficulties and other health problems. That’s when a professional biohazard cleaning company is needed.

The DIY Approach Often Isn’t Enough

No matter how hard you scrub or clean, using home cleaning products simply isn’t enough in most cases. These products are usually designed to clean small spills or deal with mild hazards. They aren’t available in the quantity or strength needed to fully disinfect homes that have been flooded or that have been the site of a crime. Most people also don’t know how to fully clean and disinfect a major hazardous waste site. There are many small areas where waste can hide or bacteria can breed. A professional knows where these areas are and how to properly clean them. This can lead to mold growth and other hazards hiding away in the home.

What SERVPRO of Fontana Provides

We offer professional biohazard cleaning services to residents and businesses in Fontana, California, and the surrounding areas. Our team is more than just a cleaning service—all of our professionals are trained in how to deal with major chemical and waste spills. This includes following all state and federal guidelines for cleaning up drugs, chemicals, and blood. All of these types of waste can be extremely dangerous. We follow all OSHA and health regulations when cleaning every site.

In addition to handling biohazard cleanup, our team can provide services such as odor removal, graffiti removal, commercial cleaning, floor cleaning, upholstery and carpet cleaning, and HVAC cleaning. Contact us today to learn more about these services and how SERVPRO of Fontana can help you.

What is dry ice blasting?

2/3/2016 (Permalink)

Dry ice blasting is a revolutionary blasting method that uses dry ice pellets (CO2 in solid form) as the blasting material. The process is very enviromentally friendly and provides a fast and effective alternative to traditional methods of cleaning industrial prouction equipment.

Dry ice blasting is a 3 step process:

- Kinetic- when dry ice pellets are accelerated in jet of compressed air and strike a surface at the speed of sound, they crack and loosen the coating of the surface being treated.

- Thermal- The low temperature of dry ice pellets (-79C/-100F) makes the coating brittle, cracks it and loosens it. This allows dry ice to permeate the coating.

- Sublimation- dry ice penetrates the coating and immediately sublimes (passes directly from solid to vapor state) This results in 700- fold increase in volume, an explosive effect that lifts the coating off the surface.
